Max Weber(1864-1920)


Maximillian Carl Emil Weber who was considered one of the founders of the modern study of sociology was a german political economist and sociologist.His best work is "The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism". Moreover his famous works are Confucianism and Taoism, The Religion of India: The sociology of Hinduism and Buddhism, and Ancient Judaism, The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism.
He was also an economist and he was also interested in religious.He studiedto relation between economic behaviour and religious ideas.
Weber's other main contribution to economics is his work on methodology.One of this theory is Verstehen, or "Interpretative" Sociology and his theory of positivism and the other is antipositivism which is known as humanistic sociology.
In Weber's sociology,there were four main types of social action:
1.purpose oriented action
2.value oriented action
3.affective action
4.traditional action
